About Us

Our names are Lucas and Morgan Duran, with our daughter Selah pictured above. We met in Florida in 2018 and were married around a year later. In 2019 we launched Roots For Life with the help of our Church, and haven’t looked back since. In July of 2021, we packed up our lives in Florida, and moved to Kenya for 6 months to do some training there, as well as Malawi, Rwanda, and eventually South Sudan. After spending 2 weeks in South Sudan, in 2021, we decided to move here in early 2022.We currently live in Juba, South Sudan and have been here for almost 2 years. We are missionaries, sent by the Church of Eleven22 in Jacksonville, FL. Ever since we have been building relationships, sharing the gospel, discipling people, and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. Our heartbeat is to see the gospel go where it currently is not. It will be our life focus to do the work of ministry. For us, in this season, God has led us to work in South Sudan and Sudan for such a time as this!

Who we are

Roots for Life was founded in February 2020 as a registered 501c3 in the state of Florida. Since its inception, our mission has been to make God known throughout the nations by building relationships, sharing the gospel, discipling believers, and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. We seek to accomplish this in specific ways; evangelism, discipleship, and training. Our vision is to see all Protestant denominations working together as a unified body, to equip and send out laborers into the harvest, while providing long-term discipleship and mentorship to those sent for the glory of God.

What do we do

The majority of our work focuses on indigenous populations in South Sudan and Sudan to help bring the gospel where it is not. To do this we work alongside local leadership across multiple denominations to identify high capacity disciple makers for the purpose of equipping them as saints for the work of ministry. We start with by helping our Sudanese and South Sudanese identify unhealthy aspects of their worldview, teach them a hands-on approach to discipleship and church planting, and we help send them out to reach individuals in the community they come from or to an unreached place. After identifying the highest caliber individuals we then help support them and their families so that they can focus exclusively on ministry while they build relationships, share the gospel, disciple new believers, and equip the saints for the work of ministry.
