About Us

Our names are Lucas and Morgan Duran, with our daughter Selah pictured above. We met in Florida in 2018 and were married around a year later. In 2019 we launched Roots For Life with the help of our Church, and haven’t looked back since. In July of 2021, we packed up our lives in Florida, and moved to Kenya for 6 months to do some training there, as well as Malawi, Rwanda, and eventually South Sudan. After spending 2 weeks in South Sudan, in 2021, we decided to move here in early 2022.We currently live in Juba, South Sudan and have been here for almost 2 years. We are missionaries, sent by the Church of Eleven22 in Jacksonville, FL. Ever since we have been building relationships, sharing the gospel, discipling people, and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. Our heartbeat is to see the gospel go where it currently is not. It will be our life focus to do the work of ministry. For us, in this season, God has led us to work in South Sudan and Sudan for such a time as this!

Who we are

Roots for Life was founded in February 2020 as a registered 501c3 in the state of Florida. Since its inception, our mission has been to make God known throughout the nations by building relationships, sharing the gospel, discipling believers, and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. We seek to accomplish this in specific ways; evangelism, discipleship, and training. Our vision is to see all Protestant denominations working together as a unified body, to equip and send out laborers into the harvest, while providing long-term discipleship and mentorship to those sent for the glory of God.

What do we do

We work primarily amongst the Sudanese in Juba, the capital city of South Sudan, to serve the local church and reach the lost with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this by operating a bible school in Juba, currently setting up a Missionary Training Center outside of Juba, and serving vulnerable populations, like prostituted women, and training believers to Know God and make Him known through any means God might lead them to do.
